Why is it so expensive to replace garage door springs?

A torsion spring stores enough energy to lift 150+ pounds and has to be wound under tension with proper bars, and it must be matched to your door's exact weight - an undersized spring fails early and an oversized one wrecks the opener. The part is $40-$100; the skill is the rest.
